With wedding season right around the corner, we are anxiously waiting! We have 24 weddings booked this year and we can’t wait to be a part of each and every one of them. We still have a few available spots in April/May and October/November/December, check out our calender to see if we are available for your special day. With that said, we are officially accepting bookings for 2010!

This summer we are also planning to try and have our fastest turnaround yet (1-2 weeks – the usual last year being 3-4 weeks), though this is not guaranteed but we will be trying our hardest to get your images back as soon as possible.

The more I think about this summer, the more excited I get! In addition to all the great weddings we’ll be at, I’ll be starting another company. It will be a fine art large format printing business. This means instead of outsourcing our photos to be printed on canvas, we will be doing it in-house. I still haven’t quite thought out when I will be starting it but it will be in September or October… But who knows it could be earlier!

Also, either tomorrow or Wednesday we receive our first ever canvas example!!! As soon as I receive it I’ll be taking some photos of it to show off on the blog. I can’t wait! It’s a photo from an engagement session from last year, that’s all I’m going to say so I don’t spoil the surprise.

Yesterday, Whitney and I did the second engagement session of the year with Maggie and Bob. We first met up with them at the Forestry Farm but it ended up closing right when we arrived there so we went to Gabriel Dumont park and Broadway to take their photos instead. It was kind of chilly outside but they were very cooperative and we look forward to shooting their wedding in June of this year!

A couple days ago, Whitney and I did a maternity shoot for my sister. Here are some of our favorites!

On February 15th, Whitney and I went to Edmonton and stayed with Klyment Tan. While we were there we had a chance to participate in one of his commercial shoots for a Gola shoe distribution company called ShoeGuru. Whitney got to model some shoes and I took some video footage, helped set up and helped take down also.

Here’s a short behind the scenes video of the shoot and the images from it:

With our 2009 and 2010 wedding packages, we include all of the photos edited on a DVD. This may change in the future but this blog post is to show you what our photos look like straight out of camera (SOOC) vs edited and processed in Adobe photoshop and/or Lightroom. We also give a limited copyright with the DVD. This allows you to print the images (though we do not recommend printing at a one-hour lab – comments on this further down in this post), post them on the internet and use them for any personal use. They can be duplicated for backup but not to be given to a friend or relative. You also cannot make changes to the images we give you (cropping and resizing are ok, but please leave the image editing to us).

How much do you edit the wedding photos?
An edit can be anything from increasing contrast, adjusting levels (or brightness), adjusting the white balance, changing color hues and tones, removing blemishes, adding textures, split-toning, removing distractions in the background, and any other enhancing effect. Each image requires a unique edit. Some will only be converted into black and white, while others will have a texture added, colors changed, split tone added, blemishes removed, etc. Just editing one photo can take anywhere from 3 minutes to 30 minutes. Remember, your not just paying for us to shoot your wedding day, your also paying us to edit your photos!

Printing:
Within the next 6 months or so, we may be purchasing a large format printer, which can print up to 44′ wide and as long as we want. This will allow us to do all of our printing in house, which means we could have a turn around time of 24-48 hours max on prints!
