Earlier today we did Ashley & Duncan’s engagement shoot.  We found some really cool locations along Broadway and we also went to the parkade at the Midtown. We’re looking forward to shooting their wedding in October of this year!

Yesterday Whitney and I did a engagement session with Tansly & Justin. It was pretty chilly out and we did the pictures in about a half hour but they turned out great! They were very cooperative and we look forward to shooting their wedding in P.A in May. It’s going to be blast!

The right wedding photographer will capture and preserve your wedding day for a lifetime. If he/she is doing their job right, they should be documenting everything – as it is occuring through out your wedding day.

One thing you may want to consider when hiring your photographer is how many photographers will be at your wedding? If their is a “second shooter” find out if they are an assistant or a real photographer. An assistant may look like a photographer at first glance but they are usually someone who is trying to build their portfolio.

There are many other factors when making up your mind about a photographer. Seeing (and liking) their work and style is important but making sure your personalities are clicking is even more important. You’ll want your photographer to blend into your wedding. This will help capture the emotions going on through out the day, and let you feel more comfortable showing those emotions. Sometimes your photographers appearance, age, or even sense of humor can make or break the deal.

Why are two better than one?

Having two photographers on your wedding day will give you many advantages. One advantage is you will have multiple angles of the same shot. While you and your bridesmaids are smiling at one of the photographers, the other photographer will be getting the same image from a candid position. Having a second shooter will also give you much wider coverage of your wedding. While the girls might be taking forever to get ready at the hotel, the second shooter can be with the guys at the ceremony site (or in some cases, at the bar!) The candid photos of the guys having a blast before the wedding can be priceless. There are many more advantages of course but  the main benefit is you are getting two different perspectives on your wedding day and since we shoot as a pair, we never miss a moment!

On my way home from school today, I went to the mall to buy our hedgehog some food, so while I was there I decided to go to the post office and check to see if my canvas print had arrived… and it did! Here are some pics:

The size I ordered is a 20×30 and in my opinion, it’s the best size to get – It’s not too big, not too small. I can’t wait until I get to start printing these beauties!

Vancouver wedding photographer - Great looking canvas. Looks beautiful. These are getting quite popular amongst wedding couples. Many here in Vancouver are also requesting canvases over large framed prints.

With wedding season right around the corner, we are anxiously waiting! We have 24 weddings booked this year and we can’t wait to be a part of each and every one of them. We still have a few available spots in April/May and October/November/December, check out our calender to see if we are available for your special day. With that said, we are officially accepting bookings for 2010!

This summer we are also planning to try and have our fastest turnaround yet (1-2 weeks – the usual last year being 3-4 weeks), though this is not guaranteed but we will be trying our hardest to get your images back as soon as possible.

The more I think about this summer, the more excited I get! In addition to all the great weddings we’ll be at, I’ll be starting another company. It will be a fine art large format printing business. This means instead of outsourcing our photos to be printed on canvas, we will be doing it in-house. I still haven’t quite thought out when I will be starting it but it will be in September or October… But who knows it could be earlier!

Also, either tomorrow or Wednesday we receive our first ever canvas example!!! As soon as I receive it I’ll be taking some photos of it to show off on the blog. I can’t wait! It’s a photo from an engagement session from last year, that’s all I’m going to say so I don’t spoil the surprise.
